We support girls who have been rescued from circumcision, or who come from families that refuse to circumcise their daughters, through school. We have supported 60 girls through primary and secondary school education, including the 23 we currently sponsor. With greater support we look forward to providing school fees for more than 100 girls by the year 2020.
In order to ensure our girls are able to stay in school, we have partnered with 6 schools to support girls with sanitary towels and underwear, facilitate leadership, and sexual and reproductive health and menstrual hygiene management education. Every year this initiative, Msichana Clubs, reaches more than 500 girls. Hundreds of girls continue missing school and even drop out due to lack of sanitary towels to manage their menstruation. We target to keep and annually support up to 1,000 girls with sanitary towels and underwear by 2020.
